Bike wayfinding signs with distance and times
I find that unless you know an area really well it is really easy to get lost on a bike, especially if your are new to a town. Wayfinding signs are very helpful, good for marketing bicycle trips, and not expensive. Signs are a lot of bang for the buck.

Bike wayfinding signs should not only direct users to turns along the bikeway but also confirm that one is still on the bikeway.
Where the bikeway is a "Greenway", extra flourescent yellow green signage at the crossings directing drivers to stop and look, at a minimum or stop signs, preferred, protecting the Greenway crossings are imperative to safety.
